My tote bag rides on the passenger seat of the RAV4, and on a Meals on Wheels morning it holds three things I actually reach for: a 24 ounce refillable water bottle in the door pocket, a small zip pouch, and a folded stack of dry face towels. The towels are CLEAN SKIN CLUB Clean Towels XL. I have kept them in that bag since May 2025, about eighteen months now, and I have stopped thinking about them the way you stop thinking about a good pair of scissors. They are just there, and they work.
Here is what I was doing before. Grand Junction is dry and the sun is strong, and by the time I finished a route my face felt like it was wearing a thin coat of the day. I would come home and dry my face on the hand towel in the bathroom, the same one Ron and I both use, the one that also dries hands, a counter and the occasional spill. I never liked it. I just did not have anything better in the bag.
So the towel was the first thing I fixed, before I changed anything else about how I take care of my skin. I bought a box in May 2025. Fifty dry towels in the box, single use, and dry is the part people get wrong. There is nothing on them. No soap, no lotion, no scent. You take one out, you use it, you throw it away.
At home it is about as plain as a thing can be. I wash my face at the bathroom sink and I dry it on one of these instead of on the hand towel. Then it goes in the trash. That is the whole routine on a normal night, and it removed the one step I had been quietly avoiding for years.
Out of the house, I use them as a damp cloth. I pour a little water from the bottle onto one towel, wring it once so it is damp and not dripping, wipe my face and neck, and then pat dry with a second one. It is not a shower and it is not a facial. It is a damp cloth in a parked car, and a damp cloth handles most of what I need on a Tuesday morning in a church parking lot.
What I needed was not a better wipe. It was a towel that had not already been used on the counter, the mirror and Ron's hands.
The dry towels that live in my tote bag
Six of these ride folded in the zip pouch, every day. A dry towel with nothing on it, for drying my face at home or making a damp cloth where there is no sink.
Amazon Check Today's Price on Amazon →The box sits on the bathroom shelf at home. Six towels ride folded in a zip bag inside the tote, and that bag has been in there so long the corners have softened. The box itself is 6.25 by 4.75 by 5.25 inches and weighs a bit over 11 ounces, which is fine on a shelf and not fine in a carry on if you are packing tight.
A box lasts me roughly six or seven weeks. One towel on a normal night, plus one or two on route days when I make a damp cloth from the bottle. Fifty in a pack, so the math is easy enough that I reorder when the shelf looks thin rather than sitting down and counting.
Soft is the word everybody uses, so let me be more specific. They are soft enough that I use them near my eyes without thinking about it, and they hold together when they are wet, which a paper towel does not. One towel covers my whole face and my neck. That is what the XL means, and it is the reason I stopped looking at the small square kind.
The downsides are real and I will list them. The box is bulky and does not travel well. It costs more per use than a washcloth you already own, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. And it makes trash, one towel most nights, which I notice more than I used to. If none of that sits well with you, a stack of plain washcloths, used once and then laundered, is a fair answer and I would not argue with you.
If you want a wipe with something in it, this is not that. This has nothing in it. On a night when I am taking off tinted moisturizer and mascara, or I am too tired for the sink, I reach for a different product entirely and I keep it on the bathroom counter. The CLEAN SKIN CLUB towels do one job: they hand me something dry and mine to put against my face.
What I'd Tell You If We Were Sitting at My Kitchen Table
I would say start with the towel and nothing else, because it is the cheapest part of the problem to fix and the easiest thing to keep doing. I would say you do not need a bag of new products, you need one thing you will actually reach for at 8 p.m. when your feet hurt. I would tell you to buy one box, not three, and see whether you miss the hand towel after a month. I would tell you to put a few in the bag you carry, because a towel on a shelf at home does nothing for you in a parking lot. And I would say this plainly: a towel is not medicine. If your face is red, itchy, breaking out, or just not settling down, that is a question for a doctor or a dermatologist, not for a box of towels. Do not buy your way around that.
One box for the shelf, six in the bag
Fifty dry, single use towels, dermatologist tested, soft enough to use near your eyes and strong enough to hold up wet. This is the version I keep at home and the one I keep in the tote.
