I keep a box of CLEAN SKIN CLUB Clean Towels XL on the bathroom shelf and about six folded in a zip bag in my tote. They are dry face towels, not wet wipes. You wet one with a little water, use it once, and throw it away. That is the whole idea. I am 58, I live in Grand Junction where the air is dry, and I drive a Meals on Wheels route three mornings a week in a 2020 Toyota RAV4. By the time I finish the route, my face feels like it has a layer of road dust on it. A washcloth would work if I were standing at my own sink. I am not. That is the gap these towels fill.

I have used them for about 18 months. They are soft, strong when wet, and single use. They have no cleanser in them, so they do not replace your face wash. They replace the towel you dry with, or the cloth you wet to wipe down when there is no sink. Here are ten reasons they beat a washcloth for the way I actually live.

Ten Reasons, In the Order I Use Them

1

A dry towel does not sit damp in a bag

A washcloth goes into a tote wet, or damp, or folded with yesterday's sweat on it. By the time you use it again, it smells like the bottom of a gym bag. A CLEAN SKIN CLUB towel goes in dry and comes out dry. You wet it when you are ready to use it, and then it is done. That one change removed the reason I used to skip washing my face after the route.

2

It reaches the back of my neck without a sink

My neck is where I feel road dust first. With a washcloth at home I need to lean over the sink and try not to drip on my shirt. With a dry towel I pour a little water from the 24 ounce bottle I keep in the RAV4 door pocket, wet the towel, and wipe from jaw to collarbone. I can do it sitting in the driver's seat with the door closed. No sink, no towel bar, no drip.

3

One towel, one use, then it is gone

I do not have to wonder how many times a washcloth has been used since it was last washed. One towel is for one cleaning. That is it. When I am done, it goes in the trash bag I keep in the console for wrappers. The box says 50 single-use dry towels, and that is how I use them. For a person who thinks about clean laundry more than she wants to, this is a small relief.

4

It is soft on a face that has been in the sun

Grand Junction sun is not gentle, and my cheeks let me know when I have been out too long. The CLEAN SKIN CLUB towels are soft, and they stay strong when wet. I am not scrubbing with them. I wet one, press it over my cheeks and forehead, and let it sit for a second. Then I wipe once, gently. A rough washcloth used too hard is the thing that makes my face pink, not the water.

5

It fits the console and the tote, not just the bathroom

The box is about 6.25 by 4.75 by 5.25 inches, so it lives on a shelf, not in my purse. That is fine. I fold about six towels into a small zip bag and put the bag in my tote. The tote rides on the passenger seat. When I finish the route, the bag is right there. A washcloth would need a wet bag and a dry bag. This needs one dry bag.

6

It does not ask me to change my whole routine

I am not a ten-step person. I wear a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen and mascara, and that is my face. At home I wash with a gentle cleanser and dry with one of these towels. On the road I wet one and wipe down. That is the whole system. The towel is not a cleanser. It is the dry half of the job, and that is exactly the part a washcloth was failing at when I was not home.

7

The box is honest about what it is

The label says dry towels. It does not say they clean your face on their own. There is no soap in them. The listing calls them makeup remover dry wipes, and I understand why, but I use them after my cleanser or with plain water. If you want a wipe that takes off mascara by itself, this is not that. If you want a clean towel to dry with, or a damp cloth when there is no sink, this is that.

8

It is kinder to my skin than a shared hand towel

For years I dried my face on the same hand towel Ron and I use at the bathroom sink. I never thought about it until I started using a fresh dry towel for my face. I am not saying a hand towel is dangerous. I am saying I do not know how long it has been hanging there, and now I do not have to guess. One towel, one face, one use. That is a simple thing to control.

9

I can keep it in the car without it drying out

I learned this the hard way with a wet wipe pack that I left in the console one August. The label did not stay shut, and the wipes went dry and useless. Dry towels do not have that problem. They are already dry. I keep a few in the zip pouch in the console and the rest in the hall closet. When I need one, I add water. There is nothing to dry out.

10

It is a small thing that makes the rest of the day easier

After the route I sit in the RAV4, wet one towel, wipe my face and neck, and put the used towel in the trash bag. It takes under a minute. I do not arrive at lunch with Ron feeling like I have been outside all morning. I do not need a shower to feel like myself. That is not a skin transformation. It is just a clean face before lunch, and for me that is worth a box on the shelf and a few towels in the tote.

What I'd Skip

I would skip the idea that a washcloth is always the better choice. A washcloth you wash after every use and dry fully is fine. A washcloth that lives damp in a tote or a car console is not doing your face any favors. I would also skip any wipe with a strong scent if your skin is touchy. I would skip buying a large box before you know you like the towels. And I would skip expecting one dry towel to remove long-wear makeup on its own. It has no cleanser in it. Use your cleanser first, or use plain water, then dry with the towel. That is what it is for.

I have kept a box of CLEAN SKIN CLUB Clean Towels XL on my bathroom shelf for about 18 months, and the folded ones in my tote are the first thing I reach for after the route.
